24/7 Week of Prayer at St Andrew’s and St Bartholomew’s 2026
‘TEACH US TO PRAY’
We are excited that St Andrew’s are running another 24/7 week of prayer from Sunday 11th January to Sunday 18th January 2026. This is a great opportunity as we start the new year, to intentionally spend time with God – being still to commune; listening to what He has to say to us both individually and corporately.
This year, we’re basing the week on the prayer Jesus taught us in response to the simple question, ‘Lord, teach us to pray’. Luke 11 v 1.
There are plenty of ways you can get involved during the week:
· Choose when to pray: Be intentional and sign up for a slot during the week using the sign-up sheet in St Andrew’s foyer, whether this is in the Prayer Room or off site somewhere.
· Choose who to pray with: You can pray on your own or with others such as family, friends or your Connect Group. This is a ‘Church Family’ event and children and youth are also invited to get involved during the week in their own groups.
· Choose where to pray: You can pray anywhere you choose. This includes in the Prayer Room at St Andrew’s which will be open during specific hours of the week (see sign-up sheet). Or it can be wherever you can find a quiet place.
· Consider what to do: We encourage you to prioritise stopping, just for 1 hour, to be still and allow yourself to re-centre scattered senses upon our very present God. Also to find a quiet space where you can ‘close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen’. As we choose to do this, we quickly realise that He is there waiting to welcome us with a smile! There is no pressure to do anything other than being with God in whatever form that takes. Perhaps read the Lord’s Prayer slowly (Matthew Ch 6 v 5-15) as a guide to meditate on, to inspire worship, poetry, song, art or another form of creativity. Or just sit in silence. We all connect with God in our own way, that’s how he made us!
· Tell us about what God is saying: We are excited and expectant about what God is going to say during the week. We would love you to share (anonymously) by writing whatever you hear that’s appropriate for the church family onto a postcard that we will be distributing in January. There will be a post-box in the foyer at St Andrew’s where you can post these for us to collate. Alternatively, email us at prayer@stastb.church
