Weekly at St. Andrew’s Youth

Whether you’re new to St. Andrew’s, attending another church on Sundays or a St. Andrew’s regular, we welcome everyone from years 7-13! Check out our weekly meetings where we have fun, worship and the word and everything in between!

sunday MORNING YOUTH

for those looking for a youth provision happening same time as the 10:30am church service.

When:

Every Sunday during Term Time

(except first Sundays of the month where stay in big church for All Age Service)

Around 11am after Worship

Up at the Loft

YOUTH serve sundays

On these Sundays—31 March, 28 April, 30 June and 21 July—youth are encouraged to serve in different areas of church.

Serving being a calling from God, a gift to the church and a chance to grow in discipleship, youth interested are welcome in either:

Welcome Team, Children’s, A/V and Prayer Ministry

DISCIPLESHIP NIGHTS

for those Y10-13 looking to be challenged to go deeper in Scripture, community and sharpening our gifts.

Every Sunday during Term Time and Half Term

In the Lounge or Loft 7-9pm

(Socials first Sunday of the month)

Note that on the Sundays of 21 Jan, 28 Jan, 18 Feb, 25 Feb, 17 Mar, 24 Mar, 21 Apr and 28 Apr, we will have and host the Young Leaders Programme during Discipleship Nights (see below in Upcoming Events)

Monday NIGHT YOUTH

for everyone looking for fellowship and fun, but hear a message from God through speakers! Great also for first timers and anyone new!

When and Where:

Every Monday during Term Time

Church 7 - 9pm

Friday SOCIAL

for youth to invite their friends for a social among church youth! Typically organized for fun and making friends

Last Friday of each Half-Term

Upcoming Youth Events

Young leaders programme

Some Sundays (see below), 7-9pm, St. Andrew’s Church

Partnering with the Diocese of Gloucester, St. Andrew’s Youth is running a Young Leader’s Programme for young people leading, working to lead in areas of student leadership like CUs.

This runs alongside our Disicpleship Nights but is open to all youth in our nearby areas as well as all years (Y7-13).

An 8 week course, dates are:

21 Jan, 28 Jan, 18 Feb, 25 Feb, 17 Mar, 24 Mar, 21 Apr, and 28 Apr.

We will cover topics like “What makes a great leader?, Maximising Potential, Leadership Influence, Conflict & Communication, Leadership Styles and more. Sessions will be done through discussions, collaboration as well as teaching.

Youth serve day

Sat, 4 May 2024, 11-8pm, St. Andrews and St. Bartholomew’s

The Saturday before the Early May Bank holiday, St. Andrew's Youth want to give back to our church community and give our time for our mission!

So, on the 4th of May, we are serving both our churches by helping tidy and freshen up St. Andrew's as well as clear out St. Bartholomew's.

Also, with the Abaana Kids Choir from Uganda being around, we'd like to show them a great time by playing football, making crafts!

Sign up is required and cost is £10 mainly to cover lunch and dinner! An option to not be given food (and bring your own) is provided for no cost.

Youth Fundraiser dinner

Monday, 29 Apr, 6-7:30pm, St. Andrew’s

For our first Youth Fundraiser Dinner, we aim to raise at least £1000 for financial assistance to youth and their families for our Spring Retreat in May!

For a minimum donation of £5, you can simply come and give at the event.

SPRING RETREAT

Fri - Mon, 24-27 May 2024 (May Bank Holiday Weekend), St. George’s House, North Devon

Our first residential for 2024, we will be heading back for sun, surf and scenic views in St. George’s. Led by Youth Pastor Jamie and the Youth team, our theme for the weekend will be on the book of Acts and what it means to really be a follower of Jesus then and now.

Register for £200 which includes travel, accommodation, a shirt and all the activities for the weekend! Also cost is £100 for the second child and onwards from the same family!

We can accommodate requests for bursary, if you need it as well.

About activities at St. George’s

If you’ve already signed up, there are many activities available! Most activities are free and don’t require bookings; But some like surfing, coasteering, kayaking do. NEW WINE

An annual trip where the whole church is invited, there will be no separate youth provision. However, youth are invited to either attend New Wine with their families or Luminosity—the Youth section of New Wine!

SATELLITES FESTIVAL

The highlight of our year is coming this summer at the Satellite Festival! Sign up below to join us for an epic week of worship, activities and community where our youth group builds the movement!

Booking will be in two parts. First is with Satellites (£119) and the second with our church for food, travel, coach hire, etc. (£110)

Youth Leader Application

We are looking for adults who seek to serve and lead in the youth ministry as godly examples in their way of life outside and inside the church. The general process will be three parts—(1) the application form below, (2) an interview and induction process with the Youth Pastor and (3) screenings and checks (i.e. DBS check, Safeguarding Training, etc).

Can’t be a Youth Leader? Apply to be a Youth Helper!

Distingushed from Youth Leaders who volunteer weekly, Youth Helpers are adults who are looking to serve on an ad hoc or occasional basis! This may mean supporting annual events like residentials and festivals or occassionally supporting us on a Monday Night or Sunday morning. Parents can be involved in this way too! Confirmed for Monday night on 29 April 2024, we’ll be running our first Youth Fundraiser Dinner! Our goal is to raise £1,000 to help with financial assistance for families.

Youth Parents Tea

Wrapping up with our first Youth Parent Tea of the year in February, our next one will be closer to summer with the final date to be announced.

Last time, we spent time getting to know each other, sharing updates on safeguarding and communications.

For the next, we will cover topics of training and mutual encouragement as parents! It will also run at the same time as Monday Night Youth as well.
